State of the Union

If I were the President of the United States and I had to give the State of the Union Address I would cover many things.  Our country is working its way back to the way it used to be.  The economy is improving from what it was a few years ago and even though some people are still getting laid off from their jobs, there are people that are going back to work as well.  We have already hit the bottom with our economy and we are slowly working our way back up to the way it used to be.
As for our school systems they could use some improvement.  In the United States we used to have the best school systems, but now other countries have improved their school systems and they have become better than ours.  There is no doubt in my mind that the United States is the best place to live, but our school systems need to be improved.  We want our children to have the best education that is possible.  In order to have the best education possible we need to have the best teachers.  I think we should get rid of the way teachers get tenure because as teachers get older some teachers begin to slow down and they are not as good as they used to be, but the school system cannot replace that old teacher with a fresh new teacher because that teacher has tenure.  This system should be revamped bacuse these older teachers who are just slacking off because they know they cannot get fired are not giving our children the best education.  Also, with technology becoming a huge part of education now, new and younger teachers are going to be more equipped to using computers and other technology than other older teachers.
The environment is another big topic in the United States.  If the environment is not protected we could find ourselves in a lot of trouble in the near future.  We have started to recycle more and have become more conscious of how we are really hurting our environment.  It has definitely improved in the past year, but helping the environment has to improve more in order to make sure the Earth will last a long time.  If we continue to abuse the Earth like we have in the past we will destroy our environment and ourselves.  Now that we are conscious of the damage we had done to our world in the past it has definitely gotten better because more and more people realize that we have to take action.  We need to continue recycling and doing good things for our environment to make sure we keep it in good shape.
The United States is one of the best places in the world to live, but it does have its faults.  They are definitely things that can be fixed in the near future to make the United States an even better place to live.

Earliest Memory

Memories are a tough subject for me because I have been told I have the worst memory ever.  I could be going to do something and five seconds later forget what I was doing.  My friends tell me all the time that I have a terrible memory, but I do remember a few specific things from my childhood.  I do not remember anything from being an infant, but the earliest memory that I can think of is when I was about four years old.
When I was four I went to pre-school at Peppermint Tree and we went on a field trip to the Cape May Zoo.  We went on a school bus and I think it was my first time on a bus.  I remember being excited about going to the zoo and my mom was a chaperone on the trip.  As the bus was driving the the zoo we came to a sudden stop and I remember my head slamming against the seat in front of me.  We didn't hit another car, but the front wheel of the bus had turned the wrong way and we were stuck on the side of the road.  It was in the middle of the summer so it was extremely hot and there was a bus full of anxious pre-schoolers.  We were stuck on the bus for what felt like forever and we were not allowed to get out of our seats because they were afraid the bus was going to flip over.  When we finally got off the hot bus, I remember looking at it and it looked like it was more than halfway to the ground.  It was not scary while I was on the bus, especially nice my mom was there with me, but after I saw the bus when we got off it was scary.  Although it was a scary experience I think I was most upset that we did not get to go to the zoo.
Another memory I can remember was when I was about five I used to love going to Castle Park.  My mom would take me there a few times a week and I loved it.  There was always so many things to do and it was like a little kid fantasy.  My mom would let me walk around a little bit by myself as long as I went back to see her every once in a while.  I remember one particular day in was in the tube of tires and I must have fell asleep in there.  When I did not go back to see my mom she started to look for me and she could not find me.  I remember a policeman coming in the tunnel and waking me up and I remember getting out of the tunnel and saw my mom with tears in her eyes.  Although I vaguely remember this memory I'm sure it was very scary for my mom because she didn't know where I was.  I do not remember many memories but I do remember some random ones.  I wish that I remembered more from my earlier childhood, but I am glad that I have a few memories.

The Balance of Nature

The balance of nature is the way that all animals, plants, and all living things on Earth fit together to make the Earth the way it is today. Everything in nature affects something else. For example, when it rains it benefits all living life on the Earth because everyone and everything needs water to live. Without the power rain the Earth would not be able to function. In the middle of the summer when there is a drought we always have to be conscious of how much water we use and save it because we have a limited supply of it. Another example of how there is a balance of nature is the food chain. We as humans need animal and plants to live. Our bodies need certain foods and nutrients that only plants and animals can give us. Nature definitely pushes to keep itself balanced because even if humans do something to make the Earth unbalanced, nature compensates for it to become balanced again.

I do think that the world is in balance today. Nature compensates for humans mistakes so it keeps nature in balance. Although the Earth is in balance as of now, it was more in balance in the past before the Earth became so populated. If we keep abusing the Earth like we have been with polluting the air and using up our limited supply of fossil fuels, nature may not be able to compensate and nature may not be balanced in the future. Many animals are becoming extinct and it is greatly affecting our environment. On the other hand, humans are trying to help the Earth now that they realize that they were greatly damaging it. Once humans find out that there is an animal about to become extinct they take them into an animal shelter and help them repopulate their species. If humans continue to recycle, and be conscious of keeping a green community the natural balance of the Earth should be fine.

Human beings are a big part of the balance of nature. Most of the things humans do for the balance of nature are not benefiting it. Once humans began to roam the Earth the balance of nature was disrupted a bit. Humans did disrupt the balance of nature, but they did not even realize that they were doing it. Now that humans are more intelligent and we have become aware of all the damage we were doing to our Earth, we are starting to fix it. We are doing everything we can to keep nature balanced and we are attempting to fix the mistakes we made in the past. Everyone is trying to spread the word of becoming a “Green Planet”. We are trying our best to make up for our mistakes and make the world a better place. With recycling, energy saving light bulbs, hybrid cars, eco-friendly water bottles, and reusable food shopping bags, humans are trying their very best to conserve energy and keep the natural world in balance.

Historical Time Period

If I could pick a historical time to visit I would definitely want to visit America when it first became a country.  I would want to be one of the Pilgrims that came over to the United States before it was a country and lived here.  I wonder how life was like and if it was a big difference from where they came.  It would be cool to be at the first Thanksgiving when the Pilgrims and Indians came together to have a feast.  I would like to experience the signing of the Declaration of Independence and be able to meet George Washington.  I think it would be exciting to see how our country became what it is today and the changes it has gone through until now.  It would be interesting to see the whole Ellis Island process where people were coming from all over the world to the new land.
In addition to going back in time to see the signing of the Declaration of Independence I would also want to go to back to 1969 when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.  I can only imagine how the news would have been back then when the first man stepped foot on the moon.  Especially with the technology back then it was extremely impressive that someone could fly into outer space on a spaceship and actually walk on the moon.  It is fascinating to me now it 2012 so I cannot even imagine how amazing it must have been back then.  It is a crazy idea to think that a huge spaceship can fly through the air and without falling down to Earth from gravity.
Another thing I would like to go back in time and experience would be to live through the 1970's.  Everyone that lived through the seventies said it was the best time and it was a lot better than life is now.  I would like to experience walking down the street and seeing hippies all over the place.  It would be interesting to compare the different clothing styles and the different lifestyles from the 1970's to today in 2012.  It would be really cool to have to live without all the technology that we have today.  I probably would be really lost without it, but I would want to see if I could live without a cell phone, iPod or, the internet.  Life would be so different and it would definitely be hard to adjust.
In conclusion, there are many different places that I would want to visit if I were able to travel back in time to a different time period or historical time.  I would want to know all the different things that happened each decade and be able to see how the United States has changed and grown to become the country that it is today.  It would be really interesting and inspiring just to see how far we have come with all our technology and way of life.
